Captain knew exactly where to go for help.
A family at Schofield Barracks found him standing quietly on their front porch — exhausted, injured, and clearly seeking safety. He chose the right house. These good Samaritans brought him straight to Brian and Patricia, who then transported him to rehabber and TCR Board Member Celeste Walker.
Celeste treated both of Captain’s eyes. His left eye cleared quickly, but his right eye was badly infected. He received pain medication, antibiotics, and — because he was such a cooperative patient — a little papaya reward.
Based on his injuries, Captain was a victim of backyard cockfighting. But now, he’s finally safe. He has a long recovery road ahead, yet he’s expected to make a full recovery with continued care, comfort, and compassion.
We are deeply grateful to the family who stepped in and saved Captain’s life. Their kindness gave him the chance every rooster deserves.
