Peanut is a rooster who is blind in one eye and was rescued during the catastrophic flooding that plagued North Shore Oahu in March of 2026. Peanut was safely relocated to a farm where he will live a safe life with many other feathered friends.
Special was the runt of his flock. He was safely cared for by his owners despite walking and vision problems. He was safely re-homed with his brother, Knuckles.
Knuckles got a leg injury from a cat attack when he was younger. The leg did not heal properly despite his owners best efforts. Unfortunately, his owners were given an order to get rid of their roosters and they had to be re-homed. Knuckles was safely re-homed with his brother, Special.
Willy was a one eyed feral rooster living in a semi-safe environment around other farm animals. Willy was beloved by the farm workers, but he was having eye infections and was being considered for euthanasia. Due to the love of some of the farm hands, they were able to get him to Trooper's for rehoming. He now lives safely on another farm where he received the medical treatment he needed and made a full recovery.
Ranger was reported by a good samaritan in Schofield barracks after being dumped from cockfighting. He was only clinging to life when he was retrieved by Trooper's Chicken Rescue.
Ranger's recovery was remarkable. He lost one eye due to his mistreatment, but he now lives a happy life and has four hens that keep him plenty busy.
Peggy was reported by a good samaritan. She was frantically dodging vehicles and humans in the Malama Market parking lot in Makakilo. Trooper's Chicken Rescue rescued her and cleaned up her amputated foot.
Peggy now lives a happy healthy life with many other disabled chickens and birds. She has cozied up to a one legged rooster named Hoppy.
Annie was rescued after being used as a "bait hen" for hen fighting. Yes, hen fighting is also a thing. She is blind from being pecked in the eyes and her nails were removed by the humans that were using her as bait.
Annie was rescued by Trooper's Chicken Rescue founders Brian and Patricia Burns and Annie will live with their other blind hen, Helen. Annie LOVES tomatoes!
Rocky was rescued after he escaped a cockfighting ring where he had spent his whole life. His waddle and comb were cut off, his leg broken, he had a massive infection and was weak and broken.
Rocky enjoying his first day as a free rooster with his rehabber, he spent the night in a warm blankie, watching movies, & eating snacks. No more hard days, fighting for his life or living in pain.
Sam was a sick rooster found by a good samaritan on Schofield Barracks and turned over to Trooper's Chicken Rescue.
Sam unfortunately lost one eye from eye worms and had other medical ailments, but he was rehabilitated by Trooper's Chicken Rescue and now lives a happy chicken life with other disabled hens and roos.
Big Red is possibly the smartest chicken around. She was found in Troopers Chicken Rescue founders driveway. Big Red was re-homed with TCR Board member Paddy Sell.
Unfortunately they're not all happy endings. While conducting the rescue of Willy, TCR Vice President Patricia found a dumped victim of cockfighting on the side of the road in Kaneohe. Despite the best efforts of Patricia and Celeste Walker, Elvis did not survive his injuries.
These two Barred Rock hens were sisters that had to be rehomed due to their owners leaving the island unexpectidly. TCR Board member, Paddy Sell gladly opened her home and added them to her flock.
Jet was in an unmarked trap in the pouring rain at night. She was left to possibly die in that trap. Trooper's Chicken Rescue drove late at night to free her from the trap. She was taken back to TCR President Brian Burns' house where she was dried and warmed up. She was re-homed with other healthy chickens.
Stormy was a baby chick that fell into a storm drain near the Aiea Medical Center. Over two days TCR founders Brian and Patricia were able to capture Stormy. Elusive little bugger!
Stormy got a second chance at life and was sent to go live with a fellow rescued baby chick named Eggy!
