Puka’s body tells the truth about cruelty.
He came to us with an amputated foot and a broken beak — injuries consistent with being used as a bait rooster. Roosters like him are often forced into fights they never chose, used to “train” others, and left with devastating wounds that never fully heal.
Gaffing and baiting don’t just injure roosters. They cause deep tissue damage, massive blood loss, infections, long‑term disability, and trauma that stays with them for life. Puka survived all of it — and still greets us with gentle curiosity and a will to live.
